At Reiki Level II, the students learn the three symbols (the Power Symbol, the Mental/Emotional Symbol and the Distant Symbol). With them, the student learns to focus the healing on the mental and emotional issues and to send the energy at the distance. The Level II attunements were made to increase the channel and your ability to handle the energy. Mikao Usui gave the symbols to help the students that didn't work with the energy before, for those who couldn’t feel the energy. The symbols are tools for us, to focus a certain aspect of the energy until we will feel we don’t need them anymore.

At this level, the three symbols are taught, their meanings and applications and the students receive another attunement.  

 

The Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen symbol is a tool for focusing in a distant healing, while the Mental/Emotional Symbol represents harmony.
